Did you know patients in the emergency department are not seen on a first-come, first-serve basis?

Patients in the emergency department are seen based on chief complaint. That means patients with chest pain, signs and symptoms of stroke, abdominal pain, shortness of breath or a fracture will be seen before someone with a non-acute complaint.

The emergency department is required to do an initial evaluation on your condition before you are registered.
